Chest Stretches while at Work

Chest stretches can be a helpful tool for a working person like you and me. Most of us spend a great part of the day seated on a desk either shuffling through paperwork or glued to a personal computer. In this seated position, you would feel cramped especially after a number of hours. This makes you feel cramped and sluggish which affects your work output for the day.

The Benefits of Chest Stretches

Chest stretches have many benefits for you. One of the benefits is having circulation return to your cramped muscles. By doing a few chest stretches, you can relieve tension built while you are seated and relax while at work. This is also one way to break the monotony of the work you do, refreshing your senses as you go. You feel the endorphins rush through your bloodstream as you do simple chest stretches while you work.

Examples of Chest Stretches

There are some simple stretches that you can do while you are at your desk in the office. These chest exercises can really provide you the necessary tools to be better at your work.

· One of the simplest ways is to simply reach out while you are seated. While at your desk, you can simply try to reach as far as you can above your head, one arm at a time. By doing this, you can feel the arm and chest muscles stretch when you try and reach for the ceiling.
· A variation of the chest stretch above is by pressing your palms together and squeezing your shoulder blades together. Hold the position for ten seconds and from there the tension built up is certain to be lifted off.
· Breathing exercises can also be good chest stretches. Breathe in through the nose and breathe out through your mouth. By doing this, you not only cleanse your airways, you also stretch out the muscles of the ribcage.
· You can still do chest stretches by keeping your arms parallel to your shoulders and then folding your arm with fists to your chest. By repeatedly pushing your chest out and then pulling it inward, you stretch your chest and keep circulation going.

The Simple Rules in Chest Stretching at the Office

Since it is a workplace, there are some rules that need to be followed when doing chest stretches at your desk. First rule is to keep it simple and inconspicuous. You can only do so much while at work, so making these chest stretches indiscreetly would really help not being noticed by your boss. Second rule is to do the exercises to invigorate yourself and not to break a sweat. Do a few chest exercises to work your system up and not go on a full out exercise while at the workplace.
